DODA, Sep 6: A young girl reportedly jumped into the Chenab River from the Shiva Bridge near Prem Nagar in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, prompting police and local residents to launch a search operation.
The girl has been identified as Payal Devi, daughter of Krishan Lal and a resident of Korara in Tehsil Mohalla of Doda, according to reports.
Police reached the spot after receiving information about the incident and, along with local residents, began efforts to trace the girl.
Rescue teams are searching the Chenab River and adjoining areas, while local residents are assisting the authorities in the operation.
The circumstances leading to the reported incident were not immediately known.
