Railway Police Detain 24 Suspects Ahead of Amarnath Yatra, Tighten Security
Jammu, July 1: The Government Railway Police (GRP) Jammu has intensified security measures ahead of the annual Shri Amarnath Yatra, detaining 24 suspected persons over the past three days as part of preventive action to ensure the safety of pilgrims. Officials said that during a checking drive at Kathua Railway Station, four individuals found moving under suspicious circumstances were detained for verification. Two preventive complaints were registered against them, and all four were produced before the Executive Magistrate First Class (EMIC), Kathua, for further legal proceedings. At Jammu Railway Station, six more suspects were detained during similar operations. Three preventive complaints were registered, and the individuals were presented before the Executive Magistrate First Class (EMIC), Rakh Bahu, Jammu. According to the Railway Police, a total of 24 suspects have been detained across areas under its jurisdiction in the last three days as part of heightened security arrangements ahead of the pilgrimage. Officials said preventive checking and surveillance will continue throughout the Shri Amarnath Yatra to maintain peace, public safety, and a secure environment for pilgrims and the general public.
