Jammu: BJP J&K Spokesperson and Convenor, International Affairs, Gaurav Gupta, on Thursday launched a blistering attack on Pakistan following India’s sharp response at the United Nations, saying Islamabad should focus on repaying its loans, developing its economy and addressing the problems of its own people instead of “coveting the territory of other countries” and “exporting terror.”
Gupta welcomed India’s strong rebuttal at the UN, where Indian diplomat Kshitij Tyagi told Pakistan to focus on development rather than territorial ambitions and terrorism. India also criticised Pakistan’s references to Jammu & Kashmir and highlighted concerns relating to areas under Pakistan’s control.
“India has given Pakistan the message it needed to hear at the United Nations—stop looking at India and start looking at your own country. Repay your loans, rebuild your economy and provide a future to your people instead of dreaming about Indian territory,” Gupta said.
Taking a sharp swipe at Islamabad, Gupta said Pakistan cannot expect international sympathy while continuing to raise Kashmir at global forums.
“Terrorism will not repay Pakistan’s loans. Anti-India propaganda will not create jobs. UN theatrics will not feed its people. And repeatedly talking about Kashmir will not change the ground reality that Jammu & Kashmir is an integral part of India,” he asserted.
Gupta said Pakistan’s continued focus on Jammu & Kashmir was a diversion from its own economic and governance challenges.
“The world has heard Pakistan’s rhetoric for decades. The question now is: what has that rhetoric delivered to the Pakistani people? Instead of development, employment and prosperity, Islamabad continues to spend political energy on territorial obsession and anti-India propaganda,” he said.
Referring to Pakistan-occupied Jammu & Kashmir, Gupta said Islamabad should first address concerns in territories under its own control.
“Before lecturing India on Kashmir, Pakistan should answer questions about the conditions of the people living under its own control. You cannot claim to speak for Kashmir while ignoring the grievances of people in areas under your administration,” Gupta said.
He said India’s response at the UN demonstrated that New Delhi would not allow Pakistan to use international platforms to repeatedly push its narrative on Jammu & Kashmir.
“Kashmir is not a bargaining chip, not a diplomatic slogan and certainly not Pakistan’s property. It is an integral part of India, and no amount of propaganda at the United Nations can alter that fact,” Gupta said.
Gupta further said Pakistan should choose between development and confrontation.
“Pakistan has a choice. It can invest in its people, strengthen its economy and become a responsible member of the international community—or continue with the failed politics of terrorism and territorial obsession. But India will not allow Pakistan’s failures to become India’s problem,” he asserted.
Welcoming the firmness of India’s UN response, Gupta said New Delhi had made its position unmistakably clear.
“The message from India is simple: stop exporting terror, stop coveting Indian territory and start working for your own people. Jammu & Kashmir belongs to India. Pakistan’s speeches cannot change history, geography or reality,” Gupta added.
