Ramban, October 13: A truck driver was killed and his helper injured after their vehicle plunged into a deep gorge near Bishlari Nallah in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ramban district in the early hours of Tuesday.
According to officials, the accident occurred around 1:15 am near Khari Bridge when the truck, travelling from Srinagar towards Gujarat, reportedly skidded off the road and fell into the gorge.
The deceased driver was identified as Sadiq Khan, son of Duda Khan, a resident of Tehsil Phagniya in Rajasthan’s Barmer district. The injured helper was identified as Sikandar, son of Hashim, a resident of Dhanoo in Barmer district.
Both occupants were rescued and rushed to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Banihal for treatment. However, doctors declared Sadiq Khan dead on arrival, while Sikandar is undergoing treatment and is reported to be in stable condition.
Police have taken cognizance of the incident and initiated an investigation to ascertain the circumstances leading to the accident.
