NCB Seizes 438 Grams Of Suspected Heroin In Jammu, One Arrested

JAMMU, Aug 13: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Jammu Zonal Unit, seized 438 grams of suspected heroin and arrested a resident of Kathua during an operation in the Lower Ragoora area of Jammu, officials said on Wednesday.

The operation was launched on August 12 based on specific intelligence inputs. NCB personnel reportedly had to move through wetlands and dense vegetation along the riverbed to reach the suspected location.

During the operation, an associate of the accused allegedly brandished a weapon and threatened the NCB team. An authorised officer fired two warning shots into the air in a safe direction to prevent any threat to the personnel, officials said.

No one was injured in the incident, while the armed associate managed to flee from the spot.

The Border Security Force (BSF) also provided assistance to the NCB team during the operation.

The seized suspected heroin has been secured, and further investigation is underway to trace the forward and backward linkages of the drug network, officials said.
