JAMMU, Sept 15: Police in Jammu and Kashmir's Udhampur district have arrested a man who had been absconding for nearly a decade in connection with a case registered in 2016, officials said.
The accused, identified as Mohd Tahir, a resident of Hanjana Thakra in Rajouri district, was arrested by a team of Rehambal Police on Monday, they said.
According to police, Tahir was wanted in a case registered in 2016 for disobedience of a government order and under provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
He had subsequently been declared an absconder, and the Special Mobile Magistrate, Udhampur, had issued warrants against him on July 27, 2016, officials said.
Acting on the warrants, the Rehambal Police team traced and apprehended the accused.
Police said Tahir will be produced before the court for further legal proceedings.
