LoP Sunil Sharma Predicts NC Government’s Collapse, Says It Won’t Last Long

KISHTWAR, NOV 1: Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma on Saturday predicted that the ruling National Conference (NC)  government in Jammu and Kashmir could collapse amid growing resentment within the party following the recent expansion of the Council of Ministers.

Speaking to reporters in Kishtwar, Sharma said he had anticipated dissatisfaction among party legislators who were left out of the Cabinet expansion, warning that the internal discontent could develop into a major political crisis.

Recalling his earlier remarks on the day of the Cabinet expansion, Sharma said, “I had said this was the beginning of the end. The National Conference will collapse like a house of cards.”

He alleged that the growing resentment within the NC was not limited to the distribution of ministerial positions but was also linked to opposition against dynastic politics and what he described as family rule.

Referring to reports of a meeting among some disgruntled NC legislators, Sharma suggested that efforts to challenge the party leadership might have already begun.

“I believe some activities in that direction may have begun yesterday,” he said, expressing confidence that the prevailing situation could threaten the survival of both the party and the government.

Sharma maintained that the recent Cabinet expansion had further widened differences within the ruling party and warned that the government would struggle to remain intact if the internal crisis continued to deepen.
