JAMMU: Leader of Opposition in the J&K Legislative Assembly, Sunil Sharma, undertook an extensive public outreach programme across Kathua and Samba, engaging with people from different walks of life and listening to their concerns.
Concerns regarding non-release of land compensation, development needs in border areas, employment, infrastructure and other local issues were also brought to the notice of the Leader of Opposition.
Sharma gave a patient hearing to the delegations and assured them that their genuine concerns would be taken up at the appropriate forums. He also directed the concerned departments to initiate immediate remedial measures wherever required and assured the people that their issues would be raised strongly during the upcoming Assembly Session.
Sharma said the people of Jammu & Kashmir had voted with expectations of change, development, employment and better governance. However, he alleged that the National Conference government had failed to address several pressing concerns of the people.
He said issues affecting employees, women, industrialists, farmers, tribal communities, VDGs, youth, refugees, transporters and residents of border areas could not be ignored, adding that people needed concrete solutions rather than political rhetoric and excuses.
“The BJP stands firmly with the people of Jammu & Kashmir and will remain their strongest voice inside and outside the Legislative Assembly,” Sharma said.
He asserted that the BJP would continue to raise the concerns of the people and would not allow their legitimate demands to be sidelined.
Sharma was accompanied by BJP MLAs Chander Prakash Ganga, Devinder Manyal, Surjeet Singh Slathia, Darshan Kumar, Satish Sharma, Vijay Sharma and Dr. Bharat Bushan.
A large number of delegations representing different sections of society met the BJP leaders and apprised them of a wide range of issues. The delegations included representatives of Village Defence Guards (VDGs), Mahila groups, industrialists, tribal communities, farmers, traders, youth, refugees and transporters, besides representatives from border areas.
