LeT Commander Among Four Pakistani Terrorists Killed in Poonch Minefield During Infiltration Bid

Poonch, October 12: Four Pakistani terrorists, including a senior Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander, were killed in a landmine explosion while allegedly attempting to infiltrate into Indian territory across the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district on Monday.

According to officials, the incident took place in the Nangi Takri area of the Krishna Ghati sector, where the group reportedly triggered a minefield while attempting to cross into the Indian side.

The deceased have been identified as Muhammad Faizan, Muhammad Ishtiaq, Muhammad Waqas and Muhammad Asim. Faizan has been identified as a senior commander of the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba terror outfit.

All four were reportedly residents of Mandla village in the Madarpur area of Hajira tehsil in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (POJK).

Following the explosion, security forces sounded an alert and intensified surveillance along the LoC to prevent any further infiltration attempts and assess the security situation.

In a separate development on Monday, Army personnel detected two old landmines near the border fence in the Basoni area of Mendhar sector. The explosives were subsequently destroyed in controlled blasts by Army experts.

Officials said around a dozen landmines had been detected and defused in the area over the past week, highlighting the continuing security challenges along the sensitive border belt.

Further details regarding the circumstances of the latest incident are awaited.
