Jammu, July 18: In a major crackdown on the narcotics network, the Jammu and Kashmir administration on Saturday demolished illegally constructed properties worth around ₹3 crore allegedly acquired through proceeds from drug trafficking in Jammu district. The demolition drive was carried out jointly by the Jammu district administration and Jammu Police in the Nikki Tawi and Bishnah areas. Officials said the action targeted properties belonging to alleged drug peddlers and formed part of the government’s campaign against the narcotics trade. At Ismailpur Kothey in Bishnah tehsil, a joint team demolished a double-storey structure valued at approximately ₹1.5 crore. Another team razed properties linked to two more alleged drug peddlers worth around ₹1.3 crore and also cleared illegally encroached land in the Nikki Tawi area. Officials said heroin and illegal weapons were also recovered from the accused during the operation. Meanwhile, in Samba district, police attached property worth approximately ₹21 lakh, including a kaccha house belonging to an alleged woman drug peddler in Upper Balole, Bari Brahmana. A police spokesperson said the attachment was carried out under the relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act after the property was identified as illegally acquired during the course of investigation. The action is part of the administration’s ongoing efforts to dismantle the financial networks of those involved in drug trafficking and curb the menace of narcotics in the Union Territory.
