Jammu: As part of its ongoing drive against drug trafficking and narcotics, Jammu (Rural) Police achieved a significant success by recovering 270 grams of heroin-like substance, ₹50,000 in cash and a weighing machine from a car at Ban Toll Plaza, Nagrota.
During naka/vehicle checking duty at Ban Toll Plaza on NH-44, a dark grey Maruti Alto 800 bearing registration No. JK02CS-7504, travelling from Jammu towards Udhampur, was intercepted for checking.
During the search of the vehicle, a white polythene bag containing heroin-like substance, a weighing machine and ₹50,000 cash was recovered from the glove box/dashboard area.
The two persons travelling in the vehicle were identified as Basharat Ali S/o Shah Mohd R/o Dansal, Tehsil Dansal, District Jammu, and Mohd Aslam S/o Reham Ali R/o Village Janakha, Tehsil Dansal, District Jammu. Both were arrested on the spot.
Basharat Ali is also found to have previous involvement in an NDPS case registered at a Police Station in Udhampur, as per his verified antecedents.
In this connection, FIR No. 222/2026 under Sections 8/21/22/25/27(a)/29 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Nagrota. Efforts are being made to establish the forward and backward linkages of the recovered narcotics and to identify all persons involved in the drug network. Further investigation is underway.
