JAMMU, SEPT 16: In a citizen-centric initiative, Jammu Police returned 60 lost mobile phones worth approximately Rs 10 lakh to their rightful owners during a handing-over ceremony held at the District Police Lines (DPL), Jammu.
The mobile phones were recovered through the dedicated efforts of the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems (CCTNS) and Electronic Surveillance Unit (ESU) teams under the supervision of the Superintendent of Police (Headquarters), Jammu.
Police officials said the recovery and return of the devices reflects the department’s continued efforts to use technology and coordinated policing mechanisms to assist citizens and safeguard their property.
This was the second such handing-over ceremony conducted by the officer, highlighting the ongoing efforts of Jammu Police to trace and recover lost mobile devices and reunite them with their owners.
During the programme, citizens were advised to take necessary precautions to protect their mobile devices and financial information. Police recommended using strong and unique passwords or PINs, enabling available device-security features and securing banking applications.
Citizens were also urged to report the loss of mobile phones promptly to the police so that necessary measures could be initiated for tracing and recovery.
Jammu Police reiterated its commitment to leveraging technology and specialised teams to strengthen citizen assistance, improve public services and ensure the recovery of lost property.
