BASANTGARH (Udhampur), Oct 18: Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology and Earth Sciences, Dr Jitendra Singh, on Sunday held a Public Durbar at Basantgarh in Udhampur district to address public grievances and discuss developmental issues concerning the region.
The minister interacted with local residents and public representatives in the presence of senior officers from the district administration and various departments. Several grievances were resolved on the spot, while other issues concerning public amenities and infrastructure development were taken up with the concerned authorities.
A key development project discussed during the interaction was the construction of a public shed at Chandi Mata, Kalyal, in Panchayat Balota Upper of Block Dudu-Basantgarh, at an estimated cost of ₹32 lakh.
The project will be funded equally through two sources, with ₹16 lakh allocated under the Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) and the remaining ₹16 lakh through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).
The proposed facility is intended to provide a dedicated public space for the local community and forms part of the development-related initiatives identified for the Basantgarh area.
Dr Jitendra Singh’s Public Durbar engagements provide a platform for residents to raise local concerns directly with the administration and seek timely intervention on issues related to public services and infrastructure.
The minister was accompanied by Ramnagar MLA Sunil Bhardwaj, Udhampur Deputy Commissioner Ananth Dwivedi, BJP district president Arun Gupta, senior party leaders Kewal Parihar, Pooja Thakur and Hans Raj, youth leader Shawan Kumar, along with other representatives and officials.
The interaction formed part of the minister’s continued public outreach across the Udhampur-Kathua-Doda parliamentary constituency, aimed at bringing local requirements to the attention of the concerned departments and facilitating development in the region.
