CISF Remembers Personnel Who Sacrificed Lives During Kishtwar Cloudburst Rescue

JAMMU, Aug 14: The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) on Friday paid tribute to three of its personnel who lost their lives while carrying out rescue operations during the devastating cloudburst at Chisoti in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district a year ago. 

City& Local GuidesThe CISF remembered Head Constables M K Biswal and Anand Kumar and Constable Sanjay Kumar Murmu, who displayed exceptional courage and selfless dedication while rescuing pilgrims during the tragedy on August 14, 2025.

“Even in the face of grave danger, they chose duty over self, saving countless lives before making the ultimate sacrifice,” the force said in a tribute posted on X.

The cloudburst struck Chisoti village, the gateway to the revered Machail Mata shrine, on August 14 last year. The disaster claimed 65 lives, most of them pilgrims, while more than 30 people were reported missing.

Remembering the fallen personnel, the CISF highlighted its motto of “Service Before Self”, saying their bravery and commitment to protecting others would continue to inspire the force and the nation.

“A year may have passed, but the courage and sacrifice of our bravehearts remain etched forever in the heart of the nation. Their legacy of courage and sacrifice will continue to inspire generations,” the CISF said.

The force said the sacrifice of the three personnel reflected the highest traditions of duty, courage and service, and their contribution during the rescue operation would remain an enduring example for future generations.
