JAMMU: BJP Jammu and Kashmir President and Rajya Sabha MP Sat Sharma participated in a grand Shobha Yatra organised on the auspicious occasion of Shri Krishna Janmashtami at Shri Siddheshwar Neelkanth Temple in Talab Tillo, Jammu.
District BJP President Rajesh Gupta was also present on the occasion. The leaders joined devotees in the religious celebrations and sought the blessings of Lord Shri Krishna.
The Shobha Yatra witnessed enthusiastic participation from a large number of devotees and local residents, who gathered to mark the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna with religious fervour and devotion. The procession passed through the area amid devotional chants, religious tableaux and other spiritual activities, creating a vibrant and festive atmosphere.
Speaking on the occasion, Sat Sharma extended his warm greetings to the people on the auspicious festival of Janmashtami. He highlighted the universal relevance of the teachings of Lord Krishna and said that his life and message continue to inspire humanity to follow the path of righteousness, truth, duty and selfless service.
Sharma said the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita provide valuable guidance for facing challenges in life with courage, discipline and a sense of responsibility. He urged people, particularly the younger generation, to draw inspiration from the ideals of Lord Krishna and contribute towards building a peaceful, harmonious and compassionate society.
He further emphasised the importance of maintaining the rich cultural and spiritual traditions of Jammu and Kashmir. Sharma appreciated the temple committee, organisers, volunteers and devotees for organising the Shobha Yatra in a grand and disciplined manner.
He said religious and cultural festivals provide an opportunity for people to come together, strengthen social bonds and promote the values of unity, brotherhood and mutual respect.
Rajesh Gupta also extended Janmashtami greetings to the people and said such occasions bring society together in an atmosphere of devotion, faith and collective celebration. He appreciated the participation of devotees and the efforts of those involved in organising the religious programme.
The celebrations at Shri Siddheshwar Neelkanth Temple continued with prayers, religious rituals and devotional programmes. Devotees offered prayers to Lord Krishna and sought blessings for peace, prosperity and the well-being of their families and society.
Janmashtami celebrations were held with enthusiasm across Jammu, with temples beautifully decorated and a number of religious and cultural programmes organised to mark the auspicious occasion.
