BJP Chief Nitin Nabin Holds Strategy Meet Ahead Of 2027 Assembly Polls

New Delhi, Aug 23: BJP president Nitin Nabin on Sunday chaired a high-level meeting with party office-bearers to review organisational preparations and chalk out strategy for the assembly elections due in seven states next year, including Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat.

The meeting at the BJP headquarters was attended by newly appointed national office-bearers, state unit presidents, state in-charges and other senior functionaries. BJP national general secretary (organisation) BL Santhosh was also present.

Sources said the discussions focused on strengthening the party organisation at the grassroots, expanding public outreach and enhancing engagement with the youth, particularly in states going to polls in 2027.

Assembly elections are scheduled in Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa, Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat next year. The BJP is currently in power in five of these states, with the Aam Aadmi Party governing Punjab and the Congress ruling Himachal Pradesh.

The meeting came a day after Nabin held discussions with the party's newly appointed national office-bearers and state-level organisational leaders.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also visited the BJP headquarters on Saturday and interacted with all 67 newly appointed national office-bearers. His meeting with the party leaders lasted more than five hours.

Modi later said organisational meetings provide an opportunity for new ideas aimed at strengthening the party and deepening its connect with the people.

Sources said the Prime Minister heard the views of the office-bearers and advised them to increase their outreach, particularly among young people, while maintaining greater focus on grassroots engagement.

The BJP's national office-bearers meeting on Saturday also adopted a resolution criticising the Congress over its decision to sing only two stanzas of Vande Mataram at its events.

The party resolved to launch a nationwide campaign highlighting the significance and history of the national song, with a particular focus on educating younger generations.

The BJP said the campaign would seek to preserve the "dignity and national status" of the full version of Vande Mataram and highlight its role in India's freedom struggle.
