Moscow, Sep 12: North Korea fired multiple ballistic missiles toward the Sea of Japan on Saturday, with the projectiles travelling about 250 kilometres before falling into the sea, according to Yonhap, citing the South Korean military.
The launch came shortly after the United States, South Korea and Japan concluded a trilateral military exercise in international waters.
Pyongyang has repeatedly condemned joint military drills between Seoul and Washington, calling them preparations for an invasion, and has often responded with weapons tests.
North Korea last fired a barrage of short-range ballistic missiles toward the East Sea on August 20.
The US Pacific Command said it was aware of the latest launch and was consulting with allies and partners. It assessed that the incident did not pose an immediate threat to US personnel or territory, or to its allies.
The command said the United States remained committed to defending its territory and regional allies.
