JAMMU, Aug 14: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), in a joint operation with Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Border Security Force (BSF), arrested an alleged drug peddler and seized 603 grams of suspected heroin in Samba district, an official said on Friday.

Acting on specific intelligence, the agencies carried out a coordinated narcotics operation in Bari Brahmana, an area with a history of drug-related activities, on Thursday.

During the operation, officials recovered 603 grams of suspected heroin and seized a motorcycle allegedly used for transporting or facilitating the illicit activity.

One accused, a resident of Vijaypur, was apprehended at the spot, the NCB spokesperson said.

The official said the operation was conducted under challenging and hostile circumstances, with the coordinated presence of the NCB, J&K Police and BSF enabling the team to secure the area and complete the operation despite resistance.

The seizure marks the second successful NCB operation in the Jammu region in three days.

On August 12, the agency had arrested another alleged drug peddler and recovered 438 grams of heroin near Lower Ragoora along the banks of the Tawi River in Jammu.

Further investigation into the latest seizure is underway to ascertain the source of the contraband and identify others involved in the suspected drug network.
