LEH/JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 18: Two labourers were killed and three others injured after a portion of earth collapsed at a road construction site in Ladakh’s Zanskar district, officials said on Friday.
The incident occurred on Thursday in the Jimchan area of Zanskar, where road construction work was underway.
According to officials, the earth suddenly gave way during the construction activity, trapping several labourers beneath the debris.
Rescue teams were rushed to the site and launched an operation to evacuate those trapped. The labourers were subsequently pulled out from under the debris.
Two workers, identified as Abdul Rashid from Kishtwar in Jammu and Kashmir and Pawan Kumar from Jharkhand, died in the incident, officials said.
Three other labourers sustained injuries and were shifted to a hospital for treatment.
