Sakshi Enters CWG Boxing Semis, Assures India Fifth Medal

Glasgow: Indian boxer Sakshi Chaudhary secured at least a bronze medal for the country after advancing to the women’s 51kg semifinals at the Commonwealth Games on Wednesday. The 26-year-old delivered a dominant performance, defeating Northern Ireland’s Caitlin Fryers by a unanimous 5-0 decision to book her place in the last four. With the victory, Sakshi became the fifth Indian boxer to confirm a medal at the ongoing Games. She joins Lovlina Borgohain (75kg), Preeti Pawar (54kg), Priya Ghanghas (60kg), and Jadumani Singh (men’s 55kg), all of whom have already reached the semifinals to guarantee podium finishes for India.
