Opposition MPs Protest in Parliament, Seek Shah and Pradhan’s Resignation

NEW DELHI, July 22: Leaders of several Opposition parties staged a protest in the Parliament premises on Wednesday, demanding the resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the alleged police action against students protesting the NEET paper leak issue. Dressed in black as a mark of protest, Opposition MPs gathered outside Parliament to express solidarity with the students and raised slogans against the Central Government. Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra joined the demonstration along with MPs from the Congress, Samajwadi Party, Left parties, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Trinamool Congress (TMC), Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), and other INDIA bloc constituents. The protesting MPs demanded accountability over the alleged police action on student demonstrators and called for the resignation of Amit Shah and Dharmendra Pradhan. Earlier in the day, floor leaders of the INDIA bloc held a strategy meeting in the chamber of Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge to chalk out their plan for the ongoing Monsoon Session. Rahul Gandhi and leaders of several Opposition parties attended the meeting.
