Opposition MPs Protest in Parliament Over Ram Temple Donation Row, Student Crackdown

New Delhi, Aug 6: Opposition MPs staged a protest in the Parliament complex on Thursday over the alleged theft of donations at the Ram temple in Ayodhya and what they termed as “police excesses” against students during recent protests. LegislativeBranch Braving rain, MPs from the Congress, Samajwadi Party and other INDIA bloc parties gathered near the Makar Dwar of Parliament carrying umbrellas, placards and a symbolic donation box to highlight the alleged irregularities in temple donations. The protesters raised slogans demanding accountability from the Centre, including calls for Union Home Minister Amit Shah to respond to the allegations. Earlier in the day, Samajwadi Party MPs held a separate demonstration over the alleged donation theft, while leaders of the INDIA bloc met in the chamber of Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge to coordinate their strategy on the issues. The opposition has vowed to corner the government over the alleged Ram temple donation irregularities and the use of force against students during last week’s protests. Meanwhile, both Houses of Parliament continued to witness disruptions, with the opposition’s demands leading to repeated adjournments and legislative business proceeding amid persistent protests.
