Omar Abdullah Slams Mehbooba Mufti Over Jantar Mantar Remarks on Kashmiris
SRINAGAR, Jul 27: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Sunday launched a scathing attack on Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti over her remarks on the alleged violence against Kashmiris, accusing her of defending the misuse of power against the people of the region. Responding to Mufti’s comments, Omar Abdullah said, “Mehbooba Mufti should have stayed home instead of going to Jantar Mantar to justify the misuse of power against Kashmiris.” His remarks come amid an escalating political confrontation between the ruling National Conference (NC) and the PDP over issues relating to the rights, security and treatment of Kashmiris. The Chief Minister’s statement further intensified the war of words between the two parties, with both continuing to accuse each other over their handling of matters concerning the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The PDP had not issued an official response to Omar Abdullah’s remarks at the time of filing this report.
