Mahavir’s Teachings Offer Roadmap To Navigate Global Unrest: Vice President

New Delhi, Oct 4: Vice President C P Radhakrishnan on Sunday highlighted the enduring relevance of Lord Mahavir’s teachings, saying Jain philosophy can provide guidance to humanity in dealing with global unrest and conflicts.

Addressing the Mahaparva Kshamapana Ceremony-2026 in New Delhi, Radhakrishnan said Mahavir’s teachings were not limited to any particular period and would remain relevant for humanity as long as the earth exists.

He noted that the world is currently facing widespread conflict, geopolitical tensions and growing intolerance, anger and resentment, which he said were affecting peace and inner harmony in societies.

The Vice President said Lord Mahavir’s message provides an important roadmap for addressing both global unrest and individual conflicts.

He stressed that true non-violence goes beyond avoiding physical aggression and also requires purity in thoughts, words and actions.

Radhakrishnan said forgiveness should focus on reform rather than revenge, dialogue rather than hatred, and reconciliation rather than hostility.

During the event, he also presented the Jain Samaj Ratna Award to former IRS officer K C Jain.
