J&K: Woman Among Three Detained After Over 500 Gold Coins Recovered In Kulgam

SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 18: Three people, including a woman, were detained after security forces allegedly recovered more than 500 gold coins from a vehicle in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Friday, officials said.

According to official sources, the recovery was made during checking of a vehicle bearing a Madhya Pradesh registration number at Mirbazar in south Kashmir.

The vehicle was travelling from Qazigund towards Srinagar when security personnel stopped it for checking. During the search, around 500 to 600 gold coins were reportedly recovered from inside the vehicle.

Officials said the exact weight and value of the seized gold coins had not been ascertained yet.

The vehicle was subsequently seized and taken to Police Post Mirbazar for further investigation.

All three occupants, including the woman, were taken into custody for questioning, the sources said.

Further questioning and investigation are underway to establish the origin of the gold coins and determine the circumstances surrounding their possession, officials added.
