NEW DELHI, Aug 14: National Security Advisor Ajit Doval has said India’s generosity and tolerance should never be mistaken for weakness, asserting that the country is prepared to take risks and respond firmly when required.
Speaking in the upcoming Discovery docuseries “Declassified: Operation Sindoor”, Doval said the primary objective of the 88-hour military operation was to destroy enemy camps, particularly those linked to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.
In his first interview since Operation Sindoor, Doval said India had clearly defined its objective before launching the military response.
He said the operation was aimed specifically at destroying terror infrastructure associated with those responsible for the Pahalgam attack.
Doval stressed that India’s restraint should not be interpreted as an inability or unwillingness to act decisively.
The two-part docuseries features India’s military and national security leadership and provides accounts of the key decisions and events surrounding Operation Sindoor, Discovery said in a statement.
The programme also features Doval’s account of the decision-making process and the resolve behind India’s military response.
“Declassified: Operation Sindoor” is scheduled to premiere on Saturday at 9 pm on Discovery and the discovery+ streaming platform.
Operation Sindoor was launched on May 7, following the Pahalgam terror attack, with Indian forces carrying out precision strikes against terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
Pakistan subsequently launched attacks against India, prompting further Indian military action under Operation Sindoor.
The military confrontation between the two nuclear-armed neighbours continued for nearly 88 hours before India and Pakistan reached an understanding to halt hostilities on the evening of May 10.
