Ahmedabad, Sept 10: Hosts India signed off from the World Archery Para Series Stage III with a rich haul of 15 medals, including four gold, three silver and eight bronze, finishing second in the overall medal standings.
The Czech Republic topped the standings with five gold medals, while China finished third with two gold, six silver and five bronze medals.
The tournament provided India's para archers with valuable international exposure ahead of the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Para Games, scheduled to be held from October 18 to 24.
Paralympic champion Harvinder Singh led India's gold-medal charge, teaming up with Vijay Sundi to win the para recurve men's doubles title. Harvinder later added another gold after partnering Bhawna to victory in the para recurve mixed team event.
Shyam Sunder Swami and Toman Kumar secured India's third gold in the para compound men's doubles, while world champion and Paris Paralympic bronze medallist Sheetal Devi completed the tally by winning the para compound women's individual title. Sarita claimed bronze in the same event.
India's three silver medals came through Bhawna and Pooja in the para recurve women's doubles, Tanvi Ingale in the visually impaired category, and Swati Chaudhary and Adil Mohammed Nazir Ansari in the W1 mixed team event.
The hosts also won eight bronze medals. Yugal Garg finished third in the visually impaired category, while Swati Chaudhary secured bronze in the W1 women's individual event.
Sheetal Devi and Toman Kumar combined to claim bronze in the para compound mixed team event. Toman also won bronze in the para compound men's individual category, while Bhawna added a bronze in the para recurve women's individual section.
Swati Chaudhary and Vasundhara Teotia won bronze in the W1 women's doubles, taking Swati's personal tally to two medals. Adil Mohammed Nazir Ansari also completed a double, partnering Vinayak Breed to bronze in the W1 men's doubles.
The W1 discipline is meant for athletes with severe impairments affecting both upper and lower limbs as well as the torso.
India's performance in Ahmedabad has provided a strong boost to the country's para archery contingent ahead of the Asian Para Games later this year.
