NEW DELHI, Oct 11: India on Sunday strongly condemned the reported attack on Saudi Arabia’s King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, which reportedly killed 12 people and injured more than 300.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) described the repeated attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure in Saudi Arabia as “completely unacceptable” and called for an immediate halt to such incidents.
“We strongly condemn the repeated attacks on Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport over the past few days, including the dastardly attack on October 10, which have led to loss of lives, injuries and damage to property,” the MEA said in a statement.
The ministry also expressed condolences to the families of those killed and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.
Saudi Arabia has blamed Houthi militants for the attack.
Reaffirming India’s support for the Gulf nation, the MEA said New Delhi stood in solidarity with the people and government of Saudi Arabia in defending the country’s sovereignty.
“We stand in solidarity with the people and the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in defence of their sovereignty, and hope that peace and normalcy returns to the region at the earliest,” the statement said.
India’s statement underscored its opposition to attacks targeting civilians and critical civilian infrastructure and called for an end to the violence in the region.
