Gold futures rise Rs 231 to Rs 1.54 lakh per 10 grams

New Delhi, Sept 10: Gold prices rose by Rs 231 to Rs 1,53,994 per 10 grams in futures trade on Thursday, supported by firm spot demand and fresh positions created by speculators.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), the gold contract for October delivery gained Rs 231, or 0.15 per cent, to trade at Rs 1,53,994 per 10 grams. The contract recorded a business turnover of 867 lots.

Market analysts attributed the rise to fresh positions taken by participants amid firm demand for the precious metal in the spot market.

In the international market, gold futures also gained, rising 0.47 per cent to USD 4,419.57 per ounce in New York.
