SRINAGAR, Sept 11: The Jammu and Kashmir Casual/Daily Wagers Forum (JKCDF) on Friday held a peaceful protest at Sher-i-Kashmir Park in Srinagar, urging the Government to address the long-pending demands and grievances of casual and daily-wage workers.
The protest was led by J&K Casual/Daily Wagers Forum president Sajad Ahmed Parray, who said the demonstration was aimed at drawing the Government’s attention to the workers’ concerns through peaceful and democratic means.
“This is a peaceful protest. We want to remind the Government not to force us to take the call of stopping the water supply,” Parray said.
He said the workers were being pushed towards taking a stronger course of action and appealed to the Government to intervene and resolve their pending issues.
“We are employees and our duty is to serve the people. We appeal to the Government not to force us to give a call for stopping the water supply. If that happens, not even a single drop of water will flow here,” he warned.
Parray said the forum would continue to highlight the issues of casual and daily-wage workers through peaceful and democratic means.
He urged the Government to take the workers’ grievances seriously and initiate concrete measures to resolve their long-pending demands.
