Dharma And Rashtra Are Interlinked, India Has Role In Addressing Global Challenges: Bhagwat

MUMBAI, Oct 2: RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat on Friday said that dharma and rashtra are closely interlinked in India and asserted that the country’s spiritual and philosophical traditions can contribute to addressing challenges faced by the world.

Addressing the 14th conference of the All India Vihar Seva group, Bhagwat said the purpose of the nation and the principles of dharma are interconnected and sustain each other.

He said the world is currently facing several challenges, including balancing development with environmental protection, individual freedom with family life, and religious faith with conflict.

“The world is troubled,” Bhagwat said, adding that many aspirations and loyalties are accompanied by competing interests and a lack of balance.

Bhagwat said there is growing interest in India’s traditional knowledge and philosophical thought as the world looks for ways to address these contradictions. He recalled that India historically shared its knowledge without seeking to conquer other countries or convert their populations.

He said India’s knowledge traditions include the Vedas, Upanishads, Ramayana, Mahabharata, Bhagavad Gita, Jain Agamas, Tripitaka and Guru Granth Sahib, along with the teachings of various saints.

Bhagwat said this knowledge represents a significant heritage that can offer perspectives on contemporary global challenges.

He also stressed the importance of preserving the lives and traditions of people who carry forward these knowledge systems, describing it as a form of service to humanity.

“You are not protecting just one life. You are protecting the safe future of the entire human race,” he said.
