New Delhi, Oct 6: The Union Cabinet on Tuesday approved a proposal to establish an Integrated Transport and Logistics Authority (ITLA), Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said.
The proposed authority will serve as the apex body for integrated planning, research, project appraisal and monitoring in the transport and logistics sector.
It will also provide policy support and undertake data analytics to improve coordination and efficiency across various modes of transportation.
According to Vaishnaw, the ITLA will prepare a long-term Transport Plan covering roads, railways, ports and shipping, civil aviation, inland waterways, coastal shipping, urban mobility and logistics.
The move is aimed at promoting integrated development of the country's transport infrastructure and strengthening coordination among different modes of transportation.
