New Delhi, September 13: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said India’s BRICS Presidency has focused on resilience, innovation, cooperation and sustainability, with member countries working together to turn their shared vision into a “win-win collaboration”.
Addressing the open session on the second day of the 18th BRICS Summit at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, PM Modi said the BRICS Logistic Supply Chain Cooperation Framework would help make global supply chains more reliable and resilient.
“Under India's presidency, we have focused all our efforts on four pillars: resilience, innovation, cooperation, and sustainability,” Modi said, expressing confidence that the support of member nations had helped translate the shared vision into meaningful cooperation.
Highlighting initiatives under the innovation pillar, the Prime Minister said the BRICS Incubator Network would connect startups and incubators across member countries. He also highlighted India’s proposal for a BRICS Startup Innovation Fund aimed at supporting innovative and scalable solutions.
Modi further said the BRICS Network on Digital Agriculture would open up new opportunities for farmers by integrating artificial intelligence, geospatial technology and digital public infrastructure with their practical needs.
He also cautioned that the weaponisation of technology and critical minerals could obstruct shared progress, stressing the need for an inclusive approach to technological adoption.
The open session is being held under the theme, “Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability: Shaping the Future for Inclusive Global Growth.”
Earlier in the day, PM Modi welcomed BRICS leaders on the second day of the summit. The session is expected to focus on areas of common interest, strengthening cooperation among member countries and promoting a more inclusive model of global growth.
The Prime Minister is also scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with several world leaders on the sidelines of the summit.
