Abuja, October 27: At least 62 people were killed and 52 others injured after gunmen attacked a community in northeastern Nigeria, the country’s emergency management agency said on Tuesday.

The attack reportedly took place on Friday in Binnari community, located in the Karim-Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State. According to Ladan Ayuba, the state head of the National Emergency Management Agency, the violence also displaced thousands of people.

The assault was allegedly carried out by armed criminals commonly known as bandits, who have been responsible for frequent attacks across northern Nigeria.

Armed groups in the region often target civilian populations, contributing to ongoing insecurity and displacement in affected communities.
