JAMMU, Sept 1: The Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) Jammu has busted an inter-state drug syndicate allegedly involved in transporting and distributing narcotic cough syrup from Delhi to Jammu, recovering 750 bottles of codeine-based cough syrup.
Acting on specific intelligence, ANTF Jammu registered FIR No. 06/2026 under Sections 8/21/22/29 of the NDPS Act at Police Station ANTF Jammu and launched an investigation.
During the operation, a sleeper bus operating on the Delhi-Jammu route was intercepted in the Narwal area. A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of 750 bottles of Altorex-CD Syrup concealed in the luggage compartment.
The bus driver, Swaran Singh, a resident of Bari Brahmana, Samba, and Joginder Singh of Swankha Morh, Samba, were arrested in connection with the case.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the syndicate procured narcotic and psychotropic cough syrup from Delhi, transported it to Jammu and allegedly supplied it to local youth at high prices.
ANTF Jammu is probing the network’s backward and forward linkages, with further arrests likely as the investigation progresses.
The ANTF reiterated its commitment to dismantling drug trafficking networks and urged the public to share credible information about drug trafficking and peddling with the Police.
