JAMMU, Aug 24: J&K Shiv Sena unit demanded Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) investigation into Uttar Pradesh Minister Chetan Chauhan’s death.
Addressing media persons here today, Manish Sahni, State President alleged that Uttar Pradesh Minister Chetan Chauhan, who succumbed to Covid-19 in a Gurugram hospital, died not because of the disease, but due to carelessness in his treatment at the Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences Hospital. He said that Chauhan, who was the legendary batsman Sunil Gavaskar’s longest serving opening partner, was admitted to Sanjay Gandhi PGI hospital in Lucknow on July 12 after being testing positive for the coronavirus.
“Chauhan was 73 and breathed his last at a Gurugram hospital after battling the dreaded infection for over a month. He was serving as the Minister of Sainik Welfare, Home Guards and Civil Security in the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet,” he said.
Sahni lambasted the doctors for not recognizing the Chetan Chetan during his treatment going on in the hospital. He said that how is it possible that the doctor not knowing the Cabinet minister, asking government to take action the aforesaid doctor.
“Shiv Sena delegation led by Party’s State Unit Chief Anil Singh, among others, has submitted a memorandum to Governor of Utter Pradesh, Anandiben Patel, demanding CBI investigation into Chetan Chauhan’s death,” Sahni said.
“The Nation has grieved over the Chetan Chauhan’s untimely death. In him, the nation has not only lost a fine cricketer today but also a great human being,” he said, asking the BJP led Government at the Centre to hold probe over his death and the negligence of doctors should be booked as per the law. Among others who were present including Gen Secretary Vikas Bakshi , working President Ashwini Gupta and secretary Raj Singh.
