Leh, Aug 20: Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs organised an online award ceremony to announce the winners of the City Sanitation Ranking Survey Swachh Sarvekshan 2020 that concluded in January 2020. Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh was the chief guest of the online event.
Kargil won the award of ‘North Zone – Best City in Citizen Feedback’ with a population of 25,000 in Swachh Sarvekshan 2020. Secretary HUA Durga Sanker Mishra congratulated Kargil Urban Local Body for winning the award.
Mission Director Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) Ladakh Moses Kunzang participated in the online event from Ladakh. Along with him, Executive Officer Municipal Committee Kargil Shafqat Ali Khan, Nodal Officer SBM Ladakh Stanzin Yougzing, SBM In-charge Kargil Jafar Ali and Data Operator SBM Mohd Abbas were also present during the online event.
It is pertinent to mention that Ladakh in previous years had also won awards in various categories where Leh won the ‘Cleanest City of North Zone with less than 2 lakh population’ in the year 2016. Similarly, Leh also won three state level awards of ‘1st ODF city in J&K State’ in 2018, Best Performance in Swachhta Hi Seva 2018 and Cleanest City Award in Swachh Survekshan.
