Kupwara, August 11 : Police on Tuesday said it busted a Hibz module in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

Police statement reads, Acting on a credible information regarding cross- LOC smuggling of large quantity of weapons and war like stores by militant associates of Hizbul Mujahideen outfit and their further delivery to active terrorists, a joint operation was carried out during late hours last night by Kupwara Police, Indian Army 28 RR and 162 BN CRPF.

The joint operation successfully culminated in apprehension of one Local militant of Hizbul Mujahideen militant outfit identified as
Parvaiz Ahmad Bhat son of Abdullah Bhat of Lalpora Lolab, age 22 yrs (Local militant)
One (1) AK-47 Rifle and One (1) 9mm Chinese Pistol with Magazines were recovered from his possession during the search operation.

The names of militant associates who were apprehended for involvement in smuggling weapons for Hizbul Mujahideen militants are as follows.

Altaf Ahmad Mir son of Abdullah Mir of Hajibal Narizeb Kalarooch, Age, 35 yrs. (OGW), Gh Mohammad Kohli son of Gh Hassan Kohli of Warnnow Lolab Age 35 yrs. (OGW) and Nizam Din Gujjar son of Mohammad Yaqoob of Gujarpati Bandipora Age 44 yrs (OGW), Ab Qayoom Gujar son of Mirza Gujar of Khenura Bandipora Age 29 yrs. (OGW)

The statement further reads that In this well coordinated operation executed by Kupwara Police, Army and CRPF following arms and ammunition was further recovered from their poSsession

AK rounds 7.62, 60 Pistols 01, Pistol magazines, 02, Pistol rounds 9mm, 12 Pouches, 01.

Preliminary investigation so far has revealed that these militant associates had
established contacts with militant commanders Code Name Reyaz and Amjad both hailing from Bandipora and currently operating at Sonar Lauch Pad as Dett Commanders for smuggling and supply of weapons to militants active in valley.

Further investigation to ascertain all details of their smuggling activities over the recent past is going on the basis of technical evidence.

In this regard case FIR No 105/2020 U/S 7/25 IA Act and 13, 16, 18, 39 UAPA stands registered at PS Lalpora and investigation taken up the statement reads.
