Leh, August 10: Honorable LG R.K Mathur today held a meeting with WAPCOS at Raj Niwas and discussed the works being undertaken under Jal Jeevan Mission. The project as envisioned by the Honorable Prime Minister, is aimed at providing Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs) in adequate quantity and of prescribed quality to all households by the year 2022.

LG Mathur stressed that the project must incorporate the existing infrastructures and adopt an integrated approach to develop a water system which can be used round the year and meet requirements beyond drinking purpose to assist Ladakh in its agriculture vision. He also laid emphasis on the importance of developing a sustainable maintenance and technical system.

The WAPCOS team comprising of Anupam Mishra, Director (Commercial & HRD), Shashank Tripati, Project Manager Ladakh, Ravi Chandra, Water Supply Expert and Mohit Suri, Deputy Manager, apprised LG Mathur of the pilot projects proposed to be undertaken in Saboo and Stok villages of Leh district and appraised the LG that the team is visiting Kargil district later today to firm up the locations for the pilot projects there.
