KARGIL AUGUST 06, 2020: Deputy Commissioner/ District Magistrate and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Baseer ul Haq Choudhary today chaired a meeting to review the preparations for Independence Day-2020 celebrations in the district.
Senior Superintendent of Police Kargil Dr Vinod Kumar, Additional Deputy Commissioner Kargil Tsering Motup, SE PWD Kargil Ved Prakash, Assistant Commissioner Development Kargil Shabir Hussain, Executive Engineers of various Sub Divisions besides other concerned officers attended the meeting.
During the course of the meeting, the DC said that the main function of the Independence Day will be held at Khree Sultan Cho Sports Stadium Biamathang while similar functions would be held at Sub Divisional and Tehsil levels as well.
The meeting was informed that the National Flag will be hoisted by the VIP while no Independence Day parade and cultural programmes will be held this year in view of the COVID-19 pandemic situation.
Threadbare discussion was held on the decoration of the main venue, seating arrangements, PAS System, uninterrupted power supply, drinking water, medicare facilities, availability of ambulance, deployment of fire tenders, invitations, cleanliness and sanitation measures, illumination of Government buildings and vital installations, traffic management and other required arrangements in the meeting.
Meanwhile, the DC directed the concerned officers to ensure proper social distancing norms while making the seating arrangements for the invitees.
The DC also directed the CMO Kargil to ensure provision of masks and sanitizers to the invitees, participants as well as the officers and officials deployed on duty at the venue of the function.
Meanwhile, the District Informatics Officer Kargil was directed to arrange screens for relay of the Independence Day programme while as the Information Department and Cultural Academy were instructed to prepare pre-recorded solo patriotic items and skits on COVID-19 mitigation measures by the local artists to be relayed during the national function.
The DC also directed the Cultural Academy and Information Department to engage local artists in traditional attire to receive the COVID-19 frontline warriors at the venue of the Independence Day function.
The DC stressed officers to put in place all necessary arrangements well in time so that the Independence Day function is held in a smooth and successful manner.
