Leh, July 27: The Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, R K Mathur was called upon by Sonam Nurboo, Councilor Sku Markha and Dr Ishey Namgyal, President Municipal Committee, Leh at Raj Niwas.
The Councilor submitted to the Lt Governor a memorandum highlighting the demands of Sku-Markha constituency. He requested for installation of mobile tower to ensure communication facilities in their far-flung villages, especially for the students to avail the ongoing online classes. He made a request to exclude the villages of Sku-Markha constituency from the ambit of Wild Life Protection Act which he stated is the major reason for poor infrastructural development and road connectivity. Other demands included the construction of Sku-Markha road, inclusion of Panchayat Halqa Rumbak in Leh instead of Nimoo block and creation of Medical Sub Centre in the constituency.
Dr Ishey Namgyal discussed with the Lt Governor issues concerning Municipal Committee, Leh including the need for formulation of Municipal Act for the Municipalities of UT Ladakh, up-gradation of Municipal Committee of UT Ladakh to Municipal Councils, to increase the strength of ward members from existing 13 to17 to mention few. The Lt Governor gave a patient hearing and assured to consider their demands and issues on a priority basis.
