Srinagar, July 04: The death toll due to the Novel Coronavirus has mounted to 125 in Jammu and Kashmir as four more patients died on Saturday due to the virus in the Union Territory, officials said.

The four deceased patients include 65-year-old man from Handwara, 75-year-old man from Dailgam and 55-year-old man from Tangmarg Baramulla and 65-year-old man from Alastang Ganderbal.

Dr Shifa Deva, Medical Superintendent at JVC Bemina told  that a 65-year-old male from Chogal Handwara, who was shifted from SKIMS last night, died at JVC on Saturday morning.

She said the patient was suffering from bilateral pneumonia, diabetes, hypertension and ailments.

Dr Farooq Jan, Medical Superintendent at SKIMS Soura told  that a 75-year-old man from Dialgam Anantnag died today, adding that the patient was admitted on 1st July in Ward 2A and was shifted to Infectious Disease block after he was tested positive.

The patient was suffering from bilateral community acquired pneumonia with type 1 respiratory failure and expired at 7:15 am, he said.

He further stated that a 65-year-old man from Alesteng Ganderabal died. “The patient was admitted on 29 June 2020 in Ward 2A and was tested positive COVID. He was later shifted to Infectious Disease Block as a case of underlying Dementia with Type 1 Respiratory Failure with Encephalopathy and Urosepsis,” he said.

A senior doctor from SMHS said that a 55-year-old man from Magam Tangmarg who was suffering from appendicular lump and bilateral pneumonia and was later tested positive for COVID-19, died at SMHS on Saturday evening.

With fresh four deaths, the death toll in Jammu and Kashmir has mounted to 125 including 111 from Kashmir and 14 from Jammu division—(KNO)
