CEC Wangyal & EC Agri Phuntsog inspects Cold Storage facility at Leh –Agling
Directs engineers and contractor to complete the Cold Storage by the end of August 2020
Leh, July 3 : The Chairman/CEC, LAHDC, Leh Gyal P Wangyal and Executive Counicllor for Agriculture and Cooperative Phuntsog Stanzin inspected the ongoing construction works of much awaited 1000 Metric Tons Controlled Atmosphere Storage / Cold Storage facility at Leh –Agling today morning.
Xen. Construction Division Leh Nisar Ahmad briefed CEC that a total of ₹ 600 lacs was approved under 13th Finance for the construction of Cold Storage out of which ₹ 544.00 lacs was expended till date and to complete the project another ₹ 618 lacs was approved under Languishing taking the total cost of the project to ₹ 11.62 crore. He said that Arctic Refrigeration Pvt. Ltd is constructing this significant project at Leh and will also provide one year running and maintenance services and training to the local engineers and technical staff after its completion.
Gaurav Sharma of Arctic Refrigeration Pvt. Ltd who is looking after the Cold Storage execution works in Leh briefed CEC and EC Agri about various components of the cold storage facility having multi-commodity cold chambers for short and long term storage of fruits and vegetables where products would be stored for six months.
CEC Wangyal and EC Agri directed Xen. Construction and Arctic Refrigeration Pvt. Ltd to compete the Cold Storage by the end of August 2020 without any further delay so that farmers could store their agro products in the upcoming winter months.
It is to mention that the foundation stone of the Cold Storage at Leh was laid by the then Minister for Cooperatives & Ladakh Affairs J&K Govt. Chhering Dorje Lakrook in the month of July 2016.
Incharge Deputy Registrar Cooperative Leh Skarma Tashi and AEE Construction Division Leh were also present at the site.
