June 25, 2020: Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Shri R. K. Mathur today launched five two-wheeler Scooters (Suzuki Access) along with helmets to be used for Dak purposes in the LG Office, Ladakh Secretariat and DC Office.
On the initiative of Secretary Transport, Ladakh Saugat Biswas, the scooties along with helmets were purchased through the Department of Motor Garages, Leh. Biswas apprised the Lt Governor that these scooties were purchased for Dak Runners for efficient dak delivery in these offices considering its usability, ease of riding quickly over short distances, low maintenance, good mileage, comfort and convenience with a storage box at the back for files and other materials. He added that the ideas of its less space occupancy on the road and low carbon emission as compared to the light vehicle were also considered. Biswas informed that if this initiative turns out successful than such scooters will be given to the Council Secretariat and each Directorate office.
