Jammu, June 19 : The government forces deployed as border guards along Line of Control (LoC) has been asked to maintain extra vigil after an increased movement of militants was reported and observed on the other side, officials said.
The officials told that the intelligence agencies have inputs about presence of Border Action Teams (BAT) at a few locations on the other side of Rajouri and Poonch districts as well as Akhnoor and Keri Battal sector area of Jammu district.
“The extra alertness is being maintained at a time when a recent infiltration attempt of six militants was foiled in Rajouri’s Kalal with three of the infiltrators were killed whereas another infiltration of eight militants was foiled in Rajouri Keri six days ago,” they said.
The officials said that in recent weeks, an increased movement on launching pads across Rajouri and Poonch districts have been observed by Army with intelligence agencies also having reports about increased movement on launching pads, which clearly state that there are a number of militants waiting across LoC in Rajouri and Poonch to infiltrate.
Recently, Director General of Police (DGP), Dilbagh Singh had also stated that the launch pads across LoC were kept active in winters also with many infiltration attempts were made by militants with first of the season from Keran in Kashmir valley.
The sources said that there are number of militants waiting on launch pads opposite Rajouri and Poonch, adding that there are apprehensions of their infiltration attempts amid ongoing ceasefire violation in different sectors.
“We are also having reports that some Border Action Teams (BAT) especially comprising of Special Security Group (SSG) men have been stationed on LoC with an aim to carry BAT attacks on this side,” sources said, adding that an alert of this nature has been issued and army troops are maintaining extra alertness –(KNO)
