COVID-19: Poonch Admin presses Alarm button after wife of a cop deployed at highway check point tests positive

Jammu, May 27: Authorities in Poonch district of Jammu have pressed the alarm button after a pregnant women, wife of a police official deployed on the main entry point of the district tested positive for the COVID-19 today.

Woman, who is resident of  Poonch’s Mendhar, is pregnant and is expected to deliver a baby within a week.

Official sources told,  that woman’s sample were taken recently and the same have been tested positive in late evening hours on Wednesday.

They further informed that husband of the woman is a Sub Inspector rank official in JK Police and is deployed on police Naka at Bhimber Gali on Jammu Poonch national highway.

Many senior officers had also visited the point in last few weeks. Bhimber Gali is the lone designated entry and exit route for all kinds of traffic in Poonch district.

A senior police officer told that necessary steps as per Standard Operating Procedures are being taken.

“We are taking all possible steps following the incident that include necessary contact tracing and replacement of deployment on Naka,” he added.
