EARTH NEWS SERVICEpage7-33-300x169 Rajouri, Dec 13 |15: An Eye camp was organised at 150 General Hospital Rajouri under Ace of Spade Division from 09 to 10 December 2015 as part of Sadhbhavna Initiative’. The screening camp was held at Degwar village, Poonch on 14 November 2015, with assistance from Pritam Spiritual Trust Poonch. At the screening camp, a total of 51 eye patients comprising of all age groups with various eye ailments were treated. Out of which, 25 patients having cataract with the age group ranging from 17 yrs to 85 yrs were operated at 150 General Hospital Rajouri, using the latest stitch less technique of Phacoemulsification and foldable intraocular lens was implanted free of cost. The highlight of the event was the successful surgery of a 17 yrs old child with congenital cataract in both eyes regaining his vision. The operation was done at 150 General Hospital on 09 and 10 December 2015 under strict aseptic conditions, Ophthalmologist. The operated patients were given free drugs and goggles along with the medicine, all the elders and families of the patients lauded the efforts made by the ophthalmic surgical team for the successful conduct of Eye camp. The camp was a huge success and helped in bestowing the gift of sight to the poor and underprivileged patients. The contented patients were very grateful to Army and thanked the Army for organizing the eye camp. The Army has been actively implementing welfare schemes for the upliftment of the people of J&K under the civic action programme ‘Sadbhavana initiative’. This is yet another example of cooperation between the ‘AWAM AND JAWAN’
