Jammu | 18-April: On Saturday afternoon a conflict between public representatives and public servant was witnessed during a Jammu Municipal Corporation ration distribution camp held in Raghunath Bazar, Jammu.
It was seen in video that Dy Mayor Purnima Sharma and a police officer shooting a video were seen in heated arguments.
We contacted Dy Mayor Purnima Sharma on phone and she said that it was Jammu Municipality Camp and officials of the JMC were also present on the spot. She said that she was invitee to event and she is surprised why she and other public representatives are being pinpointed in the FIR and it is still unsure who are these “Others” mentioned in the reports.
We also spoke to former MLA Rajesh Gupta and he also told us that he was a invitee and the camp was being organised by JMC officials and it was going well with lockdown precautions being followed.
We also contacted a onlooker at the same camp and he told us that a JMC essential service vehicle was used to carry ration packets to the venue which is a normal practice during such camping. He further told us that it was being organised by JMC officials only.
We also tried to contact SHO Jammu City station Mr. Slathia but he didn’t respond to the call by The Earth News.
From the above versions it appears as this was an event organised by a Government agency whose public representatives were invited and they were not host.
We also received couple of pictures from the person present at the camp and it can be seen that precautions being followed and this is expected as well when this is being done in routine by JMC.
This also raises eyebrows on the sudden and swift action by police on public representatives than on the organisers.
This incident of public servants Vs public representatives has brought on surface the politically adventurous behaviour of undercover power game managers and how instruments of administration are being influenced.
War against COVID-19 which has been fought like a team and almost when India is victorious but incidents of direct conflict between public representatives and public servants is indicating towards biased and politically influenced moves by overly powered instruments of administration.
And this is quite visible and should be enquired since JMC is organising such marvellous camps across the city through its officials and what went wrong here which led to FIRs against public representatives.
The question also arises here, will JMC officials organising the camp be booked for alleged mismanagement under same provisions of law?
