Jammu: Sport climbing training camp, organized by Mountaineering Association of J&K (MAJK) under the aegis of Indian Mountaineering Foundation North Zone Committee, to identify the talent at the grass-root level concluded today at Tenzing Norgay Sport Climbing wall in Sprawling Buds ICSE School, Bantalab, here.
Joint Director Tourism, Jammu, Neelam Khajuria was the chief guest at the valedictory function who witnessed the demonstration of lead and speed climbing by international climbers, Shivani Charak and Arun Deep Singh.
She interacted with the trainees and showed keen interest to learn the finer points of the game. While congratulating the Association for producing national champions and international medallists, she assured the organisers all possible help for the promotion of the game. On the occasion the chief guest was presented a memento by general secretary of MAJK, Shawetica Khajuria.
The two days Camp in which about 49 local students, including 22 girls participated, held under the technical guidance of Abhimanyu Sherpa, a pioneer sport climber of J&K and under the overall supervision of Shawetica Khajuria, an international judge. Sonam Sidharth, Sakshi Magotra, Vishali Sharma and Ajay Deep Singh formed the penal of judges and belayers.
Prominent among others present included secretary general of Press Club of Jammu, Zorawar Singh Jamwal who is also president of MAJK; Ram Khajuria, senior vice president, Rahul Sharma and Ramesh Khajuria, Chairman and Director of Sprawling Buds ICSE School respectively, Arti Sharma, Principal of Apple Kids Bantalab; Sumit Khajuria, a senior mountaineer and Ishbiliya Handoo, co-curricular activities of the host school in charge of the school.
