Ramban, Mar 08: A truck driver from Rajasthan was killed and two others were injured due to shooting stone, second such fatal incident in as many days at Ramban along Jammu-Srinagar highway, the only surface link connecting Kashmir with rest of the world, which remained blocked due to landslides and shooting stones on Sunday.
Official sources told GNS that a truck (RJ04GB-7727), stranded on the highway, came undershooting stone, resulting into on the spot death of driver Deva Ram of Rajasthan. The other person part of the truck was cooking the food on the roadside and he had a miraculous escape, they said.
In another accident, shooting stone hit another truck (JK05B-1730), carrying LPG cylinders, at Khoni Nallah area. Two persons suffered minor injuries, they said.
Meanwhile, Srinagar-Jammu highway remained blocked due to landslides and shooting stones at several places between Ramban – Banihal stretch, they said.
A traffic official said that people are advised to undertake the journey on the highway after confirming the status of traffic authorities.
